Camilla Palmer QC (Hon)
Camilla Palmer is a Consultant at YESS
After 20 years as an employment litigating lawyer (and partner at Leigh Day and Palmer Wade), Camilla set up Your Employment Settlement Service (YESS) in March 2014.
Camilla is a CEDR and Workplace accredited mediator. She specializes in:
• Investigations - of any employment matter;
• Coaching employees how to negotiate with their employer about employment issues, including maternity rights, discrimination, unfair dismissal, whistleblowing, bonus, equal pay including negotiating a good exit.
Camilla has specialised in equality law for 25 years. She has written and trained extensively on pregnancy/maternity and discrimination law and worked with the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
Camilla has been a fee-paid employment judge since 2001. In 2015 she was made an Honorary QC for her work on employment and discrimination.
Karen joined YESS in June 2018, taking over from Camilla Palmer as Joint CEO and Principal Solicitor.
Karen qualified as a solicitor in 2001 and practised at commercial firm EMW Law before a period as an employment law lecturer working with providers including BPP, MBL and CLT. Karen has more recently worked as an HR consultant and HR manager and is an Associate Member of the CIPD. Her experience of dealing with workplace relations as both a solicitor and an HR practitioner, enables her to advise clients in a practical and relevant manner.
Karen advises employers and employees on a wide range of employment matters, including redundancies and restructuring, parental entitlements, discrimination, performance management and ill-health dismissals, contractual rights including restrictive covenants and confidentiality clauses, and settlement agreements.
Karen is a member of the Employment Lawyers’ Association and is an accredited Mental Health First Aider.
Emma joined YESS in October 2014 becoming Joint CEO with Camilla Palmer as from January 2017 and continuing as Joint CEO with Karen Teago from June 2018.
Emma is a senior solicitor and mediator. She has over 12 years experience advising employees and employers on their rights at work. Previously an associate at a leading human rights firm, Emma advises clients on all employment-related matters including but not limited to discrimination law, restrictive covenants, redundancy/reorganisations and specialising in parental rights.
Emma has been a fee-paid Employment Judge since 2013
Emma regularly provides training and advice to school leaders,small NGO’s and Charities
Emma has acted on behalf of Claimants in large-scale multi-party actions against their employers and is familiar with high value, political negotiations and working constructively with unions and employers her aim is to provide pragmatic advice that enables parties to avoid litigation and move on productively.
Paul Statham is a solicitor who has worked with a nationally recognised claimant firm and has over 30 years’ experience of employment and trade union law. He has wide experience of all aspects of employment, discrimination and trade union law.
Paul was the former Treasurer of the Industrial Law Society and a member of the Executive Committee of the Institute of Employment Rights and the Legislative and Policy Committee of the Employment Lawyers Association.
Paul is co-author of Employment Law practice: Strategies for Success, published by IDS in September 2009 and regularly writes for employment publications.
Saher qualified as a solicitor in 2010 and has advised and represented employment clients in all types of employment matters including disciplinaries and grievances, unfair dismissal, redundancy, discrimination and whistleblowing. She has a wealth of experience in negotiating settlements and has also supported clients at judicial mediations.
Saher’s strengths include connecting with her clients and concentrating on their objectives to reach solutions. She explains legal concepts to her clients in plain English and has insight into different client needs and backgrounds, to which she is sensitive.
Saher also sits as a trustee of the Kosmos Centre (formerly the Camden Cypriot Women’s Organisation).
Scarlett MccGwire is a communications consultant working in the private, public and NGO sector. She has worked with senior politicians both here and in the Balkans, particularly Kosovo, Eastern Europe, Africa and since the Arab Spring, Egypt and Tunisia.
She has written a number of non-fiction books and reviews for Tribune and the LSE Review of Books.
Caroline is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wale (ICAEW) and has 20 years’ experience working in the field of finance. She spent the early part of her career working for a number of small audit and accountancy practices in London servicing a range of clients in the not-for-profit sector before moving into the higher education sector.
Most recently she was the Professional Services Finance Director at University College London, a position she held for almost 5 years. Her specialist expertise is in management reporting and financial control.
Oliver Segal QC
Oliver is a very experienced employment barrister, who represents claimants and respondents in employment disputes at all levels in the tribunals and civil courts.
He is a trained mediator and sits as a part-time Employment Tribunal Judge.
He has been the Treasurer/Chairman of the Management Committee of Old Square Chambers for many years.
Mark Hunt is a solicitor, specialising in employment law, and a qualified workplace mediator. He is currently Head of Employment Law for EMEA with The Bank of New York Mellon. Previously, he was a partner at Reed Smith in London and was head of the firm’s European employment law practice. He trained with Ashurt and qualified as a solicitor in 1995.
Mark advises on all aspects of employment law and has particular expertise in dealing with national and international transactions involving employee transfers, redundancies and restructuring exercises, senior executive issues and assisting HR professionals in dealing with grievance, disciplinary and performance and compensation related issues. Recently, he has been closely involved in the implementation of the FCA and PRA Senior Managers and Certification Regimes by The Bank of New York Mellon.
Mark is a member of the Professional Mediators Association and is the Chair of the In House committee of the Employment Lawyers Association (ELA) and a member of the ELA Management Committee.
